During the first 4 – 6 months breast milk and starter food provide enough nutrition to your baby. Starting from the 4th month additional food may be needed. Experts on nutrition say that breast milk and starter foods are not enough for the healthy growth of babies and therefore a mixes diet should be used.
Only breast milk is not enough after 4-6 months. But mothers should continue to feed their babies with breast milk. But there will be a day when mothers should stop feeding their babies with breast milk.
Babies older than the age of one cannot get enough nutrition from breast milk. Feeding your child with breast milk or liquids for a long time can be detrimental to the teeth. When it is time to stop feeding your baby with breast milk you should be determined. One way to do this is to cease feeding breast milk slowly and starting to feed other food gradually. At the last phase you can only feed your baby with breast milk at nights. Do not force your baby and also do not get upset, your baby will adjust to the new situation in a few days. The mother should not be emotional and feel that she is saddening her baby. Mother can still pass good times with their babies. |

Nutrition of your baby 







The first year of your baby is the most important year of his/her diet. During this period 80 % of the brain is developed and body area is increased twice in side and the body weight is increased 3 times in size. Wrong or insufficient diets during the first year may cause irreparable developmental problems or problems related with growth. Diet doesn’t mean that your baby is fed until he/she is full or is fed with only bananas or milk. Correct diet includes a balanced diet of different kinds of foods.
